How to Brush Your Teeth Properly

  1. Choose the Right Tools

    • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush (manual or electric) and fluoride toothpaste.

  2. Apply Toothpaste

    • Squeeze a pea-sized amount of toothpaste onto your brush.

  3. Position Your Brush

    • Hold the brush at a 45-degree angle to your gums to clean both teeth and gumline.

  4. Brush Gently in Circular Motions

    • Clean the outer surfaces of your teeth with small, gentle circles. Avoid harsh scrubbing.

    • Repeat for the inner surfaces.

    • For the chewing surfaces, use short back-and-forth strokes.

  5. Clean Inner Front Teeth

    • Tilt the brush vertically and use gentle up-and-down strokes for the backs of your front teeth.

  6. Brush Your Tongue

    • Gently brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen breath.

  7. Spit, Don’t Rinse Immediately

    • Spit out excess toothpaste but avoid rinsing with water right away—this helps fluoride stay on your teeth longer.

  8. Duration & Frequency

    • Brush for 2 minutes, twice a day (morning and night).

  9. Floss & Mouthwash (Optional but Recommended)

    • Floss daily to remove plaque between teeth.

    • Use mouthwash for extra freshness (if desired).

  10. Replace Your Toothbrush

  • Change your toothbrush (or brush head) every 3–4 months or when bristles fray.
